Hi...
A little about myself, I am married and have 3 children two boys and a baby girl. I always knew I wanted to work as an Art Teacher since I was younger. I have a fierce love of working with people and sharing my true passion with them. I’ve had experience working with teachers who have nurtured my passion and have taught me so much. I thrive on seeing my future students grow and develop as they discover what they can achieve. Art is a true passion and even if it is not your true passion it can be a way of expressing your feelings in another way rather than with words. Art is a creative way to be who you want to be without necessarily saying who you are.
Diversity Statement
Being a mother has given me more experience in being able to communicate with children with different views. I have worked as a paraprofessional (Teacher’s aide), attendance clerk, and in my church’s children’s ministry, which has helped me in getting to know people from different backgrounds and helped me in understanding different personalities.
As an art teacher, I believe that diversity is something that should be acknowledged, and I strive to create an open, safe space in which students feel free to express different ideas, opinions, and worldviews. However, given this open environment, I tolerate only the highest level of respect for one another. I will strive to provide a comfortable environment for students to be themselves and feel comfortable in the classroom.
Artist Statement
As an artist, I enjoy the ability to create something out of nothing. The texture, color, and appearance of a shape or forms on a canvas or blank surface give me a sense of accomplishment and a feeling that I have created something out of nothing and work that has never been done before in the sense that even if it is a copy of something else the lines, strokes will never be a carbon copy of anything else. Throughout the years, I have grown as an artist and have opened my mind to trying different media and seeing art with different eyes than I used to. Growing as an artist and seeing my work and more than just some basic paintings or drawings is a challenge and goal I have been working toward accomplishing.
