TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Children are born with a natural interest in art. From a young age children are gravitated toward colors and make something out of nothing, as art teachers, this is an opportunity to nurture their interest and help them learn how to be creative and expressive. Art is a very important way in how people tell their view of the world. How we teach art can be either very effective or cannot have meaning at all. When we impose only adult-centered concepts and artwork, children can lose their natural aptitude. Art education should include the ideas of children as well because their ideas should be valued and built upon. Art education should be a door to value ourselves and others.
As a future art teacher, I would like to help students reach and understand their art potential. I would not necessarily like to be viewed as an expert, but rather as a skilled and enthusiastic facilitator of students' critical thinking of creating.
